Portobelo offers attractions such as: parks, beaches and mangroves where you have an excellent time visiting the Colon area. One of the most visited attractions, both by national and international tourist is the white sand beach at the bay of Portobelo's Parque Nacional. Portobelo’s bay and is an excellent place to spend your vacation with family or friends.

Parque Nacional Portobelo is a spectacular place that lets you, and the people you are with, have good clean fun in a secure area. This charming place has areas where you can go camping and it is also ideal for snorkeling, and for hiking and exploring the forest that surrounds this attractive beach.

Tesoro del Caribe is a hotel located in the park where you can stay for just 125 dollars per night. If you are more the adventurous type you can stay under the big trees that surround the beach there. You don’t even have to worry about the tide since it rises very little and it never reaches the camping area.

If you do decide to go camping in the area don’t forget to bring: insect repellent, a blanket-it gets chilly at night, sun block, cool and comfortable clothes, and plenty of bottled water.

How to get to the beach in Portobelo National Park 

It is very easy to get to this beach. You only have to board a motorboat takes 25 minutes round trip and costs 18 balboas (local currency at par with the US dollar) per person and you set a date and pick up time with the owner of the motorboat, for when you want to return. A road has yet to be paved to get to this beautiful place.
