As advertised in “Panama Fashion Week 2007” the Panama Mayor’s Office and Physical International Models Inc., signed a cooperation agreement which will initiate the promotion of Panama City as an “International Fashion Center”. Nikki O. De Roy, Administrative Director of Marketing for the event, pointed out that Panama Fashion Week, is not only a fashion event, but it is also a showcase to impulse students who are starting out in the design field and high couture. “Panama Fashion Week” has held this event in this city for seven consecutive years, an international event that gathers the most important designers of our country and Latin America. It's the fashion event of the year.
Panama Fashion Week, denominated the “Latin American Version of Miami’s Fashion Week” had the participation of designers and fashion stores from Argentina, Brasil, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, in addition to a special guest from Georgia. Panama Fashion Week, the biggest event of this genre, hosted around 13 thousand people between locals and foreigners.
A collection of local designers such as: Federico Visuetti, Jaime Luna, Moisés Sandoya, Angela Fong, Helene Brebart, Michelle Naasar, started a strong round of applause in Panama Fashion Week, for the versatility and the creativity of their designs.
On the runway of Panama Fashion Week we saw beautiful models draped with the latest fashion trends in swimwear, casual clothing, cocktail dresses, as well as jewelry creations. During the Panama Fashion Week event designers like Juan Davil Velez; best female model, Amanda Diaz and male Danka Nikolaev. In Panama Fashion Week Ganexa student, Alejandra Gau, was also awarded, as the most promising 2007, who will travel during the month of November to the Central American Fashion Week in El Salvador.
Marie Claire Bueno, director and producer of Panama Fashion Week, pointed out that since our country has a lot of talent when it comes to design and fashion, the selection of designers for the different categories was a very hard task.
Cuqui Campagnani de Navarro, declared that Panama Fashion Week, not only attracts tourism, but it benefits many able Panamanians, that do not have the resources to promote and display the extent of their creativity and talent.
In Panama Fashion Week we also offer educational workshops, focused on the manufacturing of crafts, graphic design or impression on fabric and work with precious metals.
Panama Fashion Week 2008, promises to be one of the most important fashion events of Panama and Latin America, not only because of the internal welcoming from our country, but also from the designers and brand name stores in our neighboring countries.
